Did you know? The Season of Creation is celebrated by Christians the world over from 1st September to 4th October. Rev Neil Lambert challenged The Chapel Poetry Group to come up with a confession and a blessing for our Creationtide services. Here is the confession:

Creationtide Confession

by The Chapel Poetry Group

(Leader)

When leaders, companies and people exhaust the land, seeking bigger and better, and we waste the Earth’s resources

(Response)

Forgive us Lord, and teach us Your ways.

(Leader)

When human greed puts gain above compassion, yet Your command is to love one another extravagantly

(Response)

Forgive us Lord, and soften our hearts we pray.

(Leader)

When we make poor choices favouring variety, overconsumption and convenience, while Your seasons give perfect balance

(Response)

Forgive us Lord, and help us to delight in living by Your design

(Leader)

When abandoned waste fills healthy land and chokes the oceans and seas, yet You provided for everything that has breath in Your creation, and entrusted the good Earth to our protection

(Response)

Forgive us Lord, and help us to change our ways

(Leader)

When the world forgets creation, drinking from a cracked pot and swimming in a stagnant pool, whilst You offer the water of life

(Response)

Forgive us Lord, and wash away our sins

(Leader)

For the times when we fuel the fires of busyness, rather than fanning the spark of faith, when we let life drown out Your voice

(Response)

Forgive us Lord, and fill us with Your peace
