Did you know? The UK’s biggest annual food waste reduction campaign is running this week from 17 –23 March 2025. Co-op activators will be out in their communities doing pop-up events all over the country talking to Members about how they can make small changes to reduce food waste, save money and reduce their impact on the environment.

Ash Vale is no exception! Pop in to the Co-Op in Ash Vale on Thursday 20th March and meet the team. The St Mary’s & Ash Vale Chapel Project team will be there 10-11am too, talking about the Ash Vale Community Fridge and of course our local foodbank the Ash Villages Food Parcels Project.

Earlier this month, here at The Ash Vale Chapel Project, we hosted a food themed Co-Op Members forum. This Food Forum project was a collaboration with Claire Martin, our amazing local Co-op Members Activator lead for this region. We welcomed a whole host of different organisations from across the county to discuss tackling hunger and reducing food waste by redistributing surplus food to our local communities. It was a superb opportunity to share information, learn from one anther and share tips on best practice.

Big thanks to the Co-Op for providing the ingredients for our lunch, and to the Chapel Team who hosted and looked after us all. We have made some wonderful connections for future collaboration, for the benefit of local people. Thank you to all who joined us!
